Meg Daupan

Meg (she/her) is a contributor and researcher for Climate Refugees. She is a trained scientist with several published articles in environmental justice and ecology. She is also an experienced manager and community organizer in the academic and non-profit sectors.

Meg completed two master’s degrees—the first in microbiology from the University of the Philippines, where she studied thermophilic bacteria and their potential industrial applications as substitutes for environmentally hazardous chemicals. The second was in natural resources and environment from the University of Michigan, where she studied community resiliency through mangrove forest rehabilitation in the aftermath of climate disasters in the Philippines.

An immigrant and descendant of the Kankanaey Indigenous group of the Philippines, Meg is passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, migration, indigenous rights, and community resiliency. In this role, she hopes to educate the general public on the challenges that climate refugees face.
